Thrown on the wheel in our studio in Ennis, the Burren Mug takes its colours from the landscape just north of us: grey limestone, and the blue of a clear day over Mullaghmore.
The body is left as bare stoneware, so you can still see the lines from the potter’s hands. The rim is dipped in our blue glaze. There’s no handle; it’s made to be held in both hands, around a coffee or a tea on a cold morning.
Each one is made by hand in small batches, so the glaze and throwing lines vary slightly from mug to mug.
